Michael Jackson Leads Star-Studded Cast on Release for Charity

MJ News International has been granted the exclusive first news regarding a major new Michael Jackson project. Stuart Backerman, Michael Jackson's Official Spokesperson will be alerting the wider media to this news shortly but he and Michael wanted Michael's fans to know first and asked MJNI to release the information. Michael also wanted to acknowledge all his fansı hard work - including the petitions regarding What More Can I Give - which have paid off, because itıs FINALLY going to be released.

Michael Jackson leads a superstar-studded cast of artists on What More Can I Give, the sequel to We Are The World, on Monday, 27th October. As the highlight of the Radio Music Awards in Las Vegas, the shortfilm (video) of What More Can I Give will be officially premiered in the US. Screening, which includes 'behind the scenes' footage of the song being recorded features performances from some of the world's biggest names, including Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Justin Timberlake and N'Sync, Beyonce, Shakira, Luther Vandross, Tom Petty, Ricky Martin and Carlos Santana.

During the Radio Music Awards, produced by Clear Channel Communications/NBC, Michael Jackson will be presented with the first ever What More Can I Give Humanitarian Honour for his lifetime charitable fund-raising efforts and in recognition of his lifelong dedication to the promotion of peace through his music. In the first of a series of appearances related to the project, Michael will deliver a speech about the principles behind the song.

In a typically bold and innovative move from an artist whose career reads like the history of modern pop music, What More Can I Give will be released as an official downloadable single to internet users all over the world. All proceeds from this transaction will go to a series of charities, the details of which will be revealed at a later date. Michael will be making a couple of live appearances while in Las Vegas, including one on Saturday, 25th October at 7.00pm at the Art of Music Store in the Aladdin Mall, to sign autographs and memorabilia. Special editions of merchandise including new T-shirts will also be available at this time.

Clear Channel Communications will also release the single to their radio stations across the world and fans are invited to call the request lines on Clear Channel stations to support Michael and What More Can I Give.

Michael Jackson is also providing MJ News International with the What More Can I Give shortfilm for our Music & Me Tribute Show at The Aldwych Theatre (tentative date Sunday, 16th November - tbc) as the European premiere. Stuart Backerman said, "Michael would love MJNI to play What More Can I Give to an auditorium full of his loyal fans and has therefore requested that the Fan Club be provided with the film." Music & Me is a celebration of the music of Michael Jackson, spanning his entire career from pre-Motown to the present day.

Fans have played a large role in the release of the song. Says Stuart Backerman, "Michael has said to me so many times, it is because of the fans. Fans campaigned so hard for the release of this song and Michael joins with all the artists involved in thanking the fans for their continued support of What More Can I Give." Backerman continued, "What More Can I Give used to be a secret gem but will now be available to everyone through Clear Channel.²
