Onetime Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter has been tight-lipped when it comes to dishing on his ex-flame Paris Hilton's DUI-related woes, but he readily admits his run-in with the law taught him some valuable lessons.

"I got a DUI, I did the classes and I went in and did my AA meetings that they made me do," Carter said Thursday in Washington D.C. at an event to promote conservation of marine life. Lou Pearlman possessions to go on the block

Spoils from bankrupt financier Lou Pearlman's living-large days could go on the auction block this month. Denise Dell-Powell, an attorney for bankruptcy trustee Soneet R. Kapila, said they are looking for an auctioneer to sell off personal property from Pearlman's former Church Street offices. Pearlman disappeared in January, leaving behind a tangle of unresolved debts that led to an involuntary bankruptcy filing. The inventory of property includes such prize possessions as glasswork from famed artist Dale Chihuly and memorabilia from the Backstreet Boys, the boy band Pearlman turned into a teen-pop phenomenon in the 1990s.

Afterburner names Corrigan vice chairman

Michael Corrigan, a former CFO at MGM, has joined Afterburner Films as vice chairman.
Afterburner, which CEO David Riggs founded last year, has embarked on a four-picture slate, kicking off with the action thriller "Fast Glass," the indie company's second film. "Glass," a tale of California surfers who get caught up in airborne drug smuggling, stars Andrew Keegan, Brandon Quinn, Nick Carter, Greg Grunberg and Natalia Cigliuti. Writer-director Kim Bass ("Ballistic") is helming the project.

Other titles on Afterburner's slate, which it will be offering at this month's Cannes Film Market, are the horror thriller "Scareport," the treasure-hunt movie "50 Large" and the love story "Through the Cracks."

Afterburner's first feature, "Succubus: Hell-bent," written and directed by Bass and starring Lorenzo Lamas, David Keith, Gary Busey and Kelly Hu, was released domestically by Universal Studios Home Entertainment.

Before MGM, Corrigan was a senior partner in the Entertainment, Media and Communications practice at PriceWaterhouse.

"Mike's experience as a media and entertainment executive makes him the right person at the right time for our growing company," Riggs said. "Mike is the right person to help lead Afterburner in our goal to provide modestly budgeted movies with high-quality production values for the global market."

Dancing with the Stars" pudgy twirler and former *NSYNCer Joey Fatone (make your own joke on his last name), Nick Carter (seen him lately?) and Tori Spelling (baby weight) have all hopped on the NutriSystem diet. Tori and Joey have been working closely with NutriSystem's VIP/Celeb counselor Stacie Mullen, and according to the stars, the system has done wonders for them. Former Backstreet Boy Carter has also been raving to friends that the diet is the best thing he's done for himself in ages. Well after watching his family and their reality show, that's clear. (Why tag Nick as Former Backstreetboy?)

Are these three competing to be the next spokestubby? TMZ chewed the fat with a NutriSystem rep who told us, "Yes, all three are on the diet, but not spokespeople -- Nick's lost thirty pounds, and Joey's lost twenty-five. They're just enthusiastic clients who have no problem telling the world they're finding great success on the program.

Kathy Griffin did a chat on her official site back on April 15. Where she talked about her reality show and mentioned her favorite moments with Nick.

Admin: From Christine: Hi Kathy. Could you tell us about your favorite moment while filming the newest season of "My Life on the D-List." One that will definitely not be shown?

Kathy: There were a lot of moments on my date with Nick Carter that won't be shown -- only because I wanted to change the entire theory of "Kathy Griffin Dates Nick Carter."

He sang two complete Backstreet Boys songs to me. That, of course, Bravo couldn't buy. That was really sweet, but only a little bit of that will end up on the show. Also, he talks about going out in the clubs and girls using him to get to Aaron, and how he feels like yesterday’s news compared to his 18-year-old brother Aaron.

Move over, Joey Fatone! There's a new boy-bander looking to hog the slimmed-down spotlight.

I can exclusively report that Nick Carter has secretly shed—ready for this?—30 pounds in just six weeks. His rep tells me he's been working with a personal trainer on a daily basis and using the NutriSystem diet program.
But the Backstreet Boy is not ready to reveal his new physique, because he wants to lose another five pounds. "He's purposely been keeping low and not going out," a source tells me. "He looks really good, though." (The prediet photo here is from about 10 months ago.)

Like Carter, Fatone recently admitted to using NutriSystem—along with his Dancing with the Stars regimen—to lose at least 20 pounds.

Just a couple of weeks ago, I chatted with Fatone at Nancy Davis and Tommy Hilfiger's Race to Erase MS gala. He told me it was all about cutting down on the size of his servings. "It's all about portions," Fatone said. "Instead of a whole pizza pie, just one slice now!"

His waistline isn't the only thing Carter's been working on. His rep says he'll soon give acting a shot when he starts shooting Fast Glass, an independent film with Andrew Keegan.

The rep also said the Backstreet Boys' long-delayed comeback album is close to being finished. Once it's released, the group will probably tour England and then the U.S.

Of course, I wouldn't be surprised to find Carter popping up in next season's Dancing with the Stars.
