The guys are finishing up their next studio album and have started to talk about touring plans, but have not confirmed anything yet. They are very excited about releasing new material and really feel like they have come together with their sound on this album. All the guys have been writing and traveling a great deal to inspire a perfect blend of new music. I was at Geisha House Saturday night for my friend DJ's birthday dinner. Shortly after being seated, Donatella Versace comes waltzing by, face like a frying pan, accompanied by five well-dressed goons and they are seated at the table next to us. Our waiter was also assigned to Donatella's table. He comes over to me about 10 minutes later to tell me that when he approached Donatella for her drink order, he was instructed by goon #1 not to speak to Donatella, that the goons would speak for her. Then I noticed one of the managers go to Donatella's table and shufffle the party off. A few minutes later Backstreet Boy Nick Carter sits down with a table full of girls. When the waiter returned I asked him what happened to Donatella and he said they moved her outside because she's a chain smoker. I guess they told her to "Get out!"

WestwoodOne has broadcasted artists' interview during Grammy Week for at least the last 2 years. A couple of years ago the Boys did some interviews for WestwoodOne/CBS radio stations. Not too many of those stations stream but some stations posted the interviews on their websites. Last year only AJ did "the interview thing" (as far as I know), but I didn't find any intvs online.

It looks like this year the interviews will be streaming from a WestwoodOne subsite - GrammyRadio.Com - instead of via radio stations. The interviews will be on Thursday and Friday from Noon-4pm PT ( = 3pm-7pm ET, 8pm-midnight UK).
There's no guaratee that the boys will come, but they've attended in the past so let's just keep our fingers crossed. Go to the link and click the Watch it Live! banner. If someone can stream it for us, It'll be awesome, we'll give you proper credit. Thanks in advance!

The long-winded but self-explanatory 8-Bit Operators: The Music of Kraftwerk Performed on Vintage 8-Bit Video Game Systems is another odd tribute of sorts, blipping and bleeping its way through 15 chestnuts by the electro-kraut pioneers. The roster involves an array of international artists who have delved deep into the genre also known as "chiptune" or "bitpop."

Unlike those tributes, Brian Wilson actually participated directly in a salute to himself that was staged by MusiCares, a group that helps people in the music industry with financial and medical assistance. Everyone and their mother turned up for the 2005 event, and their renditions of classic Wilson/ Beach Boys cuts are captured here: the Red Hot Chili Peppers tackle "I Get Around," John Legend re-creates "I Just Wasn't Made for These Times," the Backstreet Boys reinterpret "When I Grow Up to Be a Man" and more. Wilson helps cap the show by running through "Pet Sounds," "Heroes and Villains" and three more numbers.

The now quartet Backstreet Boys have returned to the studio to start recording songs for their follow up to 2005's Never Gone, due out in the spring of 2007. Brian Littrell has said the upcoming album will be more guitar driven and will have an old school Jackswing and Eurodance sound. There has also been little to no information as to which producers the group has been working with, but rumored names include: Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Max Martin, Rami, Emanuel Kiriakou, Dan Muckala, Teddy Riley, and Jim Jonsin.
