"You suck!! You piece of crap!!" They heard Kevin’s voice drift across the parking lot.
Kevin was known for yelling at everyone. He was somewhat of a perfectionist and sometimes people, usually Nick, set him off with their less than perfect behavior.
Something in Kevin’s voice was different this time. He sounded angry... almost dangerous.
They ran towards the sound of his voice.
Kevin and AJ were standing behind AJ’s white Corvette, with the trunk wide open. Kevin was holding a terrified AJ by the shirt, yelling at him.
Nick started to bawl. "Don’t yell at AJ!"
"Shut up Nick! Adults are talking!"
"Up yours!" he cried even harder.
"Get off of me!" AJ yelled. He tried to wriggle out of Kevin’s grasp.
"Shut up! You’re nothing but a damn liar!"
"Guys" Howie calmly begged them. "We’re the Backstreet Boys. We’ve been together for so many years. We’ve got so many wonderful fans that we’re so thankful for. There’s no reason to fight - "
"Shut up!" Kevin angrily interrupted him. Howie stepped back in fear. He’d never seen Kevin so angry. And quite frankly, he didn’t like it.
And quite frankly, neither did Nick.
"Don’t yell at Howie!" Nick squeaked through tears. Kevin had no right to talk to someone like that, especially not Howie.
"I’m Howie."
Kevin sent a death glare in Howie’s direction, his face a bright shade of red.
"Don’t push him, Howie." Leighanne cautiously warned. She knew Kevin’s temper and hated to see it let out on innocent Howie.
"Me?" Howie said softly, "I would never cause conflict."
It was no wonder everyone loved Howie, but his words did nothing for AJ and Kevin who were now at each other’s throats.
AJ had gotten his way out of Kevin’s grasp and they were now standing nose to nose.
Their was dead silence in the parking lot. Everyone waited for one of the boys to make a move.
Brian, the only one with enough guts to stand up to Kevin, stepped inbetween them. He held little Baylee in his arms as an extra caution against Kevin. He knew he wouldn’t hurt a child.
He was right. Kevin stepped back.
"What is going on?" Brian asked.
"Tell them AJ! Tell ‘em! Tell ‘em how you let them down!!"
AJ tugged nervously at the hem of his playboy bunny t-shirt.
"Tell them what’s in the bag." Kevin demanded.
"It’s uh... a... b-b-birthday present f-for my m-m-m-mom." AJ stammered.
Kevin pushed AJ away from the car with his left eyebrow.
He lifted one of the paper bags out of the trunk and dumped it’s contents onto ground for everyone to see.
Liters of Mountain Dew came tumbling out, rolling underneath the car.
Kevin grabbed up one of the getaway bottles. "This!"
AJ couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw Kevin open the bottle and dump it’s yellow liquid on the ground.
He’d paid good money to get a guy to smuggle him those out of Twinkie’s ‘N Mountain Dew.
AJ grabbed the bottle from him.
"What’s in the other bags?" Kevin asked.
He grabbed up another bag and ripped it down the middle.
Packages of Twinkies fell out.
The guys are stunned silent.
Nick’s mouth began to water. He loved Twinkies and he never got a chance to eat lunch.
They all stared in disbelief at the vices rolling on the groun, which AJ had swore off of... or so he said.
Nick broke the silence with tiny sobs. More for the craving for Twinkies than the lies coming from AJ’s mouth.
"You told us you quit." Howie said angrily.
Oh no! Thought nick. He’s made Howie angry. Howie never gets angry. AJ’s gonna tear us apart!
"They’re not m-m-mine" They’re f-f-for Aaron." AJ lied.
"He’s lying! He stutters when he lies!" Brian yelled, bouncing baby Baylee in his arms.
AJ shot him the look of death. It was completely missed by Brian, who was now dodging baby puke.
"Now let’s not jump to conclusions" Howie calmly insisted.
Nick breathed a sigh of relief. Howie wasn’t angry after all.
"He’s a back slider!!!" Kevin yelled accusingly. "It’s time to take out the trash!"
