It originally began with one story - BSB in the Matrix. I had seen other humour sites and they were my favourite kinds of BSB sites (still are) as opposed to fan sites, fan fiction sites etc. (though I do love those as well). I really wanted to be a part of a site or something like that, you know, something BSB related so I wrote that story and sent it in to BSB Reality Check - a humour site that I absolutely admire (big up to the (Ch)Krissys!).
They wrote back and said that they were gonna use it on their site. (It's still there under their 'fantashays' section actually, though it's under the name fat fish - but it's really me!) After a while, I began to think that if there were so many humour sites around, why couldn't I have one? I made up alot of funny stuff about BSB and then put together the very first version of Livin Large - The Backstreet Way!
Looking back on that one, the site has progressed alot! The first site was not in frames, it was all white and just very simple. The second version, which, if you've been to the site before, was the more recent one. I like to call it Black & Blue version 1.0. This newest layout is called Black & Blue version 2.0 although it doesn't have any blue parts except the colour of the links. I think it's more functional and those pop-up windows were getting annoying to me so I just decided to change it!
What else about the site can I say? It's a humour site about BSB (which you may or may not have discovered) and I'm always adding stuff to it which is why I recommed you join the mailing list to know when I add new pics, stuff etc.
In case you're wondering about the name of the site, no I didn't get it from the song 'Larger Than Life'. In fact, I only recently realised that many people might think that this is where the name came from. The idea came for it from the the show 'MTV Cribs'. They were doing a special edition where they showed you how to live large. I figured that BSB were living large right now so I decided that that was as good as a name for the site as any. There are already too many sites which have used phrases from songs or quotes from the guys so I wanted to be original. There's actually a quiz on the site to see if you are living large (it's the only quiz up right now!) and I'm planning to write something telling you how to live large. By the way, it's no mistake that I spell it as 'livin' instead of 'living'. That's how I talk and that's the real name of the site and there is an exclamation at the end of the name, like yahoo!.
Something very wonderful happened to the site when it got hosted by Patti. At the time she had one of the better humour sites out there (Romancing The Bone) and was looking for hostees. Never dreaming that I could actually get hosted, I contacted her and she was kind enough to accept me. So I learned how to use FTP and set about the monumental task of transferring the site to the bed-head server. It's pretty amazing that people are actually willing to share their domains - it just goes to show how great BSB fans are!
The second great thing that happened to Livin Large was Mai. I can't even remember now when she first contacted me because I can't remember how the site used to function without her. We emailed back and forth and soon became friends and I knew she was the person to share the site with and she hasn't disappointed one bit. Even when we were unsure about the future of Livin Large, we still kept in contact and I think the fact that we became friends and don't only talk/email about BSB things helped to make us a good team. It's just another fact that shows how wonderful BSB fans are.
In conclusion, let me just say that although BSB has never come to my country and I've never seen them in real life, I still love them and I made this site as my little dedication to them in the hopes that one day they may see it and also, to make other BSB fans, like myself, get a laugh about their favourite group. Because Backstreet's about love and love is about laughter so I hope that the site has done something, no matter how small, to make you laugh.
